"Poker Party Game"
It is often difficult to get people to mingle at your special event. Here is one way to break the ice.
Give every person at the party 1 playing card, (use more than 1 deck if necessary).
The object of the game is to make a group of 5 people with the best
poker hand. They can exchange cards or join any group that will
let them in. Strategies vary from advertising, ie. "WHO
NEEDS A 6 OF HEARTS?"
to covert observation, ie. keeping your card and
joining a good team at the last minute.
When you decide it's time; each team puts their cards in an envelope and writes the 5 players names on the outside.

The highest real hand wins. (no 5 of a kind)
Award 5 individual prizes or something that can be divided because the players may not be sitting at the same table.
Tip: Secretly remove most of the aces and some of the kings before you start. The search will last longer if players believe they can build a better royal flush.
