Kingsclere Ranch is the original homestead of the Braisher family. Edith & Alfred Braisher settled here in 1918 from England with their son Sid. The family grew with 4 more children; Ormond, Jess, Ethel and Phillis. Sid spent time overseas with the Canadian Army there after he made a living with the Canadian Pacific Railway. Ormond stayed on the farm and married Kathleen Waldron and had 4 children (Dugan, Joe, Bob and Alice) all of which still live in the Columbia Valley. Jess moved to Calgary Alberta to become a successful painter and poet, even though she had lost her vision for many years. Ethel became ill and passed away when she was 2 years old. Phillis lived most of her adult life in Salmon Arm, but went back to the farm be laid to rest in 1997.

The land was worked by hand and by horse until it became a dairy farm in 1930. The dairy farm prospered for many years then became a beef cattle farm in 1960. Kingsclear Ranch is a legacy that has been passed on for nearly 4 generations.
